Our Unique Exercises—
The Objectives
Our Narconon programme consists of different phases, following the drug-free withdrawal and the New Life Detoxification comes The Objectives.
The Objectives are unique exercises designed to help bring a person’s attention off the past and into the present.
They are named the Objectives because these exercises use objects in the surrounding environment as opposed to subjective exercises which are those dependent on the mind.
Having one’s attention in the present is important for anyone to live life to its fullest but it is of even more importance in rehabilitation. Drugs can have a profound effect on the mind, and an addict can wind up with his attention stuck in thousands of different past moments.
These past moments can influence behaviour and attitudes in the present. With so much attention on the past, it can leave insufficient attention to correctly deal with the present, leading to a host of problems including unnecessary mistakes and accidents.
The purpose of Objectives is to bring the person out of the past and into the present—ready and able to face life without feeling the need to resort to drugs.
This aims to set our students up perfectly for the next step, life skills courses. Helping them feel ready to face life without drugs is only the first step, next is helping them to have the tools to deal with it.
